Imagine – people from every nation of the world, joining together at the same time to honour Jesus and pray in his name. It’s a small glimpse of heaven… and it’s happening here on earth.
From 6 to 13 September, our friends at 24-7 Prayer are inviting the global Church to pray non-stop in every nation on earth during a Global Week of Prayer. And we are excited to be partnering with them and adding Tearfund voices to lift up the name of Jesus together.
As you’ve kindly said we can contact you about anything new in the Tearfund prayer world, we wanted to invite you, our prayerful supporters, to take part too, and also let you know about a new prayer channel we are launching.
Will you join hundreds of thousands of Christians around the world praying for people experiencing extreme poverty and injustice?
Why pray?
After decades of decline, extreme poverty is on the rise. More than 800 million people are still living in extreme poverty worldwide. Conflict, natural disasters and injustice are the main drivers of this, devastating communities around the world.
But that’s not the end of the story, because Jesus’ love leads us to pray for people living in extreme poverty. And we know that as we pray together, it will make a difference.
To equip you during the Global Week of Prayer, please download our free guide, where you’ll find information and prayer points to help guide your prayers for our global neighbours in creative ways. Covering the themes of conflict, the climate crisis and gender inequality, this resource is great for praying on your own, with your family or in small groups.

Other ways to pray during the week
There are also other ways you can choose to take part:
Commit to praying for an hour in our virtual 24-7 Prayer Room, which will be open for the whole week. You can sign up to pray for whatever slot/s suits you best, adding your name, your initials or registering anonymously if you prefer. Tearfund staff and partners will also be signing up and we would love to cover the whole week in prayer!
As you’ve supported us so faithfully in prayer before, we’d love you to join the Going Deeper monthly prayer gathering, happening during the week of prayer on Tuesday 8 September, 6 – 7pm, on Zoom. Our guest will be Tearfund’s CEO Silas Balraj. We will hear about his heart for Tearfund, some stories of our work across the world and then spend time in breakout groups praying together for some of the challenges facing communities living in extreme poverty. A brand new prayer channel
We also wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about a new prayer WhatsApp channel we are launching, where we will post occasional prayer requests for emergencies affecting the countries where we work.

We’re so excited to see how God will move as the world unites in prayer during this week. Let’s unite our voices together and pray for our global neighbours facing injustice and extreme poverty.
However you are praying, wherever you are praying, thank you! While the voice of injustice is loud, Jesus’ love is louder, and your prayers are powerful.
