Stephen Roe leaving service
This recording is of the Stratton Methodist Church Circuit Farewell Service held on 19 July 2026 to celebrate the ministry of Deacon Stephen Roe as he concludes his time serving the Methodist Circuit and ministry within the Methodist Church.
The service opens with a warm welcome from the Worship Group, followed by uplifting congregational worship featuring Blessed Be Your Name, Amazing Grace and God Is Here, As We His People. Revd David Gray leads the opening prayer, with prayers later in the service led by Revd Trudie Wigley.
The Bible readings, from 1 Corinthians 12 and Matthew 20, explore the themes of the Body of Christ, the value of every person's gifts and God's generous grace for all. These readings provide the foundation for the sermon by Revd Rach Collins.
Throughout the service, Deacon Stephen Roe introduces a number of the hymns that have been significant during his ministry, including Let Love Be Real, Brother, Sister, Let Me Serve You, The Lord's My Shepherd and Captain of Israel's Host.
A particularly moving part of the service is the opportunity for the Circuit Stewards and staff to express their thanks and say farewell to Stephen, recognising his faithful ministry, leadership and service across the Circuit. The service concludes with a blessing and a sending out in peace.
Whether you know Stephen personally, are part of the Methodist community, or are simply joining us online, we hope this service encourages you through its worship, prayers, scripture and message of Christian service, love and grace.
Thanks to Matt Collins of MC Online Events, for recording the Service held on Sunday 19th July 2026.
